Biography
Marne has been both a Nationally Chartered Mediator and a Registered Family Mediator specializing in separation and divorce, general family and parenting plans for over 15 years.
She started working with families in the role of a mediator and mentor in the CSS parent teen mediation program: since then has facilitated focused productive dialogue for families, separating and divorcing couples and parents utilizing the structure of the four stage interest based models where the meeting is set up so that parties have the opportunity to be heard on what matters to them ahead of working together to find answers/ actions to implement.
Marne facilitates workplace disputes where conflict is getting in the way of working relationships, communication and business. She has worked with health professions, government, emergency services, private businesses, employees with and without union representation —- organizing premediations, mediations and coaching services.
Marne has an understanding and appreciation of the complexity and of the difficulty conflict can bring to life and work. A safe, private , off the record meeting environment conducive to sharing and understanding in what is often a high stakes conversation is created. Increased understanding, resolution and a mutually agreed upon solution, action plan is the goal.
She is a passionate believer and advocate of folks meeting face to face to keep their important discussions private and their key life decisions in their own hands.
Marne is a trained life coach trained through Coach U and Cinergy Conflict Coaching. Her coaching currently focuses primarily on dealing conflict, communication, assertiveness and sensitivity training, and individual and group coaching for ADR students.
Marne is a mentor, coach and instructor in various alternative dispute training programs for organizations such as ADR Institute of Alberta, and the Legal Education Society of Alberta. She serves on various mediation rosters such as Family Justice Services, the Police Mediation Program and the Federal Farm Debt Mediation Program. Marne is a sessional instructor at the U of A School of Business (Organizational Behaviour), is a trained facilitator in the New Ways for Families program, facilitates wellness sessions and workshops for a prominent EAP provider.
