Biography
Jim Reiman serves as an arbitrator and mediator in domestic and international commercial disputes, and also as a corporate board director. A seasoned business executive and attorney, Jim possesses 18 years experience in US law firms followed by 15+ years as a CEO and public company board director (including 4 years as board chairman of a public company listed on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM Market).
As an ADR professional, Jim Reiman merges his 18 years in law firms as a business transactions attorney negotiating, documenting, and litigating clients’ complex business matters with his corporate world experience creating and growing domestic and international businesses. He brings to the process a deep knowledge of and respect for the law, as well as a keen understanding of profits/losses and the processes that drive businesses and business decisions. As a Fellow of the American College of e-Neutrals, he understands the law, business, and technical issues related to e-discovery, as well as the costs associated with its practice.
Jim served as lead or billing attorney in private practice negotiating and documenting complex business transactions, complex financings, real estate development and construction projects, trade and intellectual property disputes (both domestic and international), private equity financings, strategic partnerships, corporate restructurings, and mergers/acquisitions, as well as exit strategies, generational transfers, and partnership dissolutions of smaller businesses.
As a mediator, he strives to bring the parties to “yes” by ferreting out the issues at the heart of a dispute and finding acceptable solutions to those matters as well as the issues that are the subject of the noise. Jim Reiman’s dual careers as an attorney and as a businessperson provide him with insights and experiences that he taps to identify the core issues and bring the parties to “yes.”
