This three-session role-play practice package is for those that wish to practice their mediation skills in role-play.
Who Should Take This Course?
This course is designed for students who have completed mediation training and wish to gain additional practice of their role play skills. It is ideal for students looking to further their mediation training, those who are beginning to mediate with live parties, or those who are looking to prepare for a Supervised Mock Mediation (SMM) to obtain a Q.Med designation.
What Will I Learn and What Skills Will I Gain?
Participants will be placed in groups of three or four and assigned role-plays in which they will be either the mediator, one of the parties or in the case of groups of four, an observer. The schedule for the three-sessions will be assigned in advance and emailed to the participants. For each group there will be two role-plays per session and over the course of the three sessions, each participant will have the opportunity to mediate at least twice (the exact number will vary depending on the number of participants that register and some role-plays may be co-mediations).
Each group will have a coach that will provide feedback on skill integration. The coaches will not be doing skill drills, or completing role-play evaluation forms. The focus on these sessions is role-play practice with verbal feedback from the coaches.
What Can I Expect in Class?
This course consists of three online evening sessions (5:30 – 8:00).
A package of role-plays and the role-play schedule will be posted on a private student page prior to the class. Students are expected to be prepared for their roles before each class and encouraged to share their goals with their coach so feedback can be provided accordingly.
What Are the Pre-Requisites?
Registration is only open to ADRIA members who have completed mediation training.
