Biography

Pete is one of Canada’s Chartered Mediators and a Qualified Arbitrator, as well as being a Registered Mediator and Arbitrator in the United States, working out of Atlanta and Denver. He is the President of the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society and has completed over 3,800 mediations covering 15 countries, four continents and nearly years. His practice focuses on both on corporate mediation ( contracts, wrongful dismissal, bullying, product or service quality and morale ) and on family mediation such as divorce, wills and estates, and eldercare. Pete is highly experienced at taking the fear out of intense mediations.

His portfolio of high-profile mediations includes working with the U.S. soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan and Germany; a firefighters’ labor dispute; a wrongful death suit; several trade agreements between Asian countries; the murder of a celebrity and the kidnapping of a child to Japan during a custody battle.

He is the Founding Director of “The Negotiators”, an arbitration and mediation firm operating both in the United States and Canada. A few years ago “The Negotiators” was named one of Metro Atlanta’s top 10 small businesses of the year by the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.

Corporately, Pete also teaches a number of courses and workshops on “Working with Difficult People”, “When Negotiations Get Dirty”, and “Communicating Through Change and Stress”.

He has on multiple occasions, been a presiding judge at the annual World University Mediation Championships in Brazil, a judge the European University Mediation  games in Paris, and has just been certified as a hostage negotiator by the Public Service Association.
