Bridging the Distance welcomes the opportunity to learn more about the Dispute Resolution Network. The Dispute Resolution Network is a combination of government and not-for-profit organizations that work together to support one another and promote using ADR. Some of their activities include conferences/workshops/symposiums and the promotion of “Conflict Resolution Day.” Conflict Resolution Day is an international celebration held on the third Thursday in October every year. In Alberta, a committee of representatives from both provincial government and community dispute resolution programs work together to support and promote events across the province. They develop curriculum for a one hour workshop that anyone can deliver.
Our guests are Michael Scheidl, Co-chair of the Dispute Resolution Network. Michael is the manager of intermunicipal relations and tells me he’s very busy implementing ADR in ways that help municipalities work with their neighbours. Ali Ansell is a mediator with the Alberta Energy Regulator. She chairs the Conflict Resolution Day committee.
Members in Edmonton and Calgary are also invited to join. Everyone is welcome.
