Courses in Dispute Resolution
Courses can be taken as part of a Certificate Program, or individually, as long as pre-requisites are met.
Certificate in Conflict Leadership
Learn the fundamentals of conflict resolution and mediation. This 180-hour program develops an understanding of the dynamics of conflict, and provides hands-on training in ADR communication and mediation skills.
Certificate in Separation & Divorce Mediation
For mediators wanting to work in the field of separation and divorce. This 70-hour program covers safety screening, high conflict situations, parenting plans, child support, spousal support, and division of property.
Certificate in Consensus Decision-Making
Program for people who want to learn the skills necessary for participating effectively in a consensus process who may want to go on and learn how to manage or lead consensus processes.
ADRIA membership is required to take our courses and programs. Students must purchase their membership online before registering for a course.
Some ADRIA courses have pre-requisites, and it is up to the student to ensure they are taking the courses in the required order and that they have passed the pre-requisite before starting the next course. There are no external pre-requisites for any of our courses or Certificate programs.
Core courses are added to the calendar annually in January for the following Fall, and in June for the Winter, Spring and Summer of the next year. Note that specialized courses are added throughout the year so check the Course Calendar often.
Registration closes one week before the course start date.
Payment may be made with a credit card online or by submitting a cheque to the ADRIA office. Payment is due one month prior to the course start date. If payment is not received by the payment deadline, the registrant may lose their seat in the course.
Withdrawals are accepted without penalty up until 21 days prior to the first day of the course. If a student withdraws within 21 days of the course start date, the ADR Institute of Alberta (ADRIA) will retain $1000 or 50% of the course fee, whichever is less.
If a minimum number of registrants is not reached 21 days prior to the course start date, the course will be cancelled and payment will be reimbursed.
Students must attend 100% of the training to receive a certificate of course completion. Unless otherwise specified, the entire course must be completed on the dates it is offered in that session - if a course is offered in two or more parts, they cannot be taken in separate sessions or locations.
Students must attend 100% of the training and pass the evaluations throughout the course in order to receive a certificate. Program Certificates must be completed within three (3) years of the start of the program.
